S7G-USA is proud to announce the official release of our new Import line of our Cobra-KS model 6 and 7-string guitars, The Cobra-KS model. This has been an anguishing decision with which I have wrestled for almost 2 years. All of my Dealers and many customers have been asking me to start an import model line to allow for easier and more affordable access to S7G guitars. I have finally obliged these requests! Those who know me best will attest to my stubbornness ;-)
In June 2016 at Summer NAMM I met John Choi of Indie Music, Ltd based in Seoul, South Korea. Like S7G USA, Indie Music is a small company with an emphasis on quality output not quantity. John, Dave (our CAD guru), and I began the manufacturing prototyping process in August with our 2nd round of prototypes completed by Winter NAMM, January 2017, where we unveiled the new Cobra KS line to the music community. The guitars were well received with countless compliments on the tone, quality, fit, finish, and price points of this new model line while offering discerning players a new option to become acquainted with the S7G product line.
S6 COBRA- KS
The S6 Cobra-KS comes standard with Seymour Duncan JB humbuckers in the bridge and Seymour Duncan 59 humbuckers in the neck with our typical volume and 3-way toggle switch layout. This combination provides all players, from Country to all Metal genres, the benefit of versatile, high output pups! I still hand pick the tone woods for weight and quality like I do for the USA line, Poplar being the wood of choice for this model, then I ship the wood to Seoul for 2-piece bodies, not multiple piece bodies like my competitors. I chose Poplar for its’ tonal qualities as it has very similar (if not the same) tonal qualities of Alder bodies. For an additional nod to tradition, we are using rosewood fingerboards, standard mother of pearl dot markers, 24 jumbo Ni-Ag frets, 16” radius, and a 25.5” scale length. 1-pc hard rock maple bolt on necks with the trademark S7G “flattened D” shape, 3 over 3 headstock profile, non-locking tuners, hard tail fixed bridge, graphite nut, and 2-way action truss rods help these beasts maintain rock solid stability. The finish options with be offered in gloss white, gloss black, matte white with full black binding, and matte black with full white binding. These 6-string Cobra KS models will sell at $899.99 which includes the S7G embroidered logo, 20 mil gig bag with neck cradle, large front pockets, and padded shoulder straps (see images at the end of this Blog).
The S7 Cobra-KS models come with all the same specifications and finish options as the S6 Cobra-KS models with the exception of the ideal scale length of 27.5” like our standard USA Cobra line, and a 4 over 3 headstock layout. I chose this longer scale to maximize the players’ ability to reach a wide variety of low tunings without fear of intonation issues, or subpar string tension to string gauge ratio, a staple of the S7G product line. In my opinion 26.5” or 27” does not offer enough low end clarity without huge strings. These 7’s will hold low F or F# with 70 or 72 and sound full, tight, and aggressive through all galloping rhythms you desire. Want low E, an 80 will fit the bill! There is no reason players can’t have the longer scale advantage even in our import line. These monster axes will sell for $999.99 including the S7G logo gig bag.
Our first run of 40 new Cobra-KS models will be available for delivery after May 15th! Please e-mail your order requests to email@example.com and I will confirm your specific model preferences and shipping information.
